The Frejka pillow splint is easy to use, and it is effective against HD

The device is worn like an ordinary pair of underpants - similar to a diaper, harnessed to the body by straps and Velcroes. The splint keeps the legs in an outward rotated position to ensure that the head of the femur locates exactly in the acetabuli, or cavities of the pelvis. The treatment lasts normally 3 - 4 months, and during this period the hip joints grow into shape, and the dislocation is no more. The legs can now swing normally, and the child will suffer no problems with walking.

The Frejka pillow splint comes in five sizes: 16 cm, 18 cm, 20 cm, 22 cm and 24 cm.

It's easy to use, and is no obstacle to normal clothes.

Slip it on like a pair of underpants, tighten the straps and the waist belt, and youre ready. The straps all have Velcroes to facilitate adjustments. Tightening of the comfortable elastic waistband also works by Velcroes.

It is imperative that the splint fits tightly to the body!

The cushion inside measures only 10 mm thick, and the splint can be worn under ordinary clothes, making it hardly detectable.

Maintenance is easy as well: remove the pillow, and wash the rest at 60 °C. As the pillow has closed cell structure - and these cells will break if washed in a machine, we recommend that you wash it by hand (no alcohol) or simply wipe it with a mild detergent. All Velcroes have both loops and hooks and can be folded over and closed to eliminate problems in the washing prosess.
